Fight discrimination with perspiration: Sweat with Pride aims to hit 1,000 sign-ups this IDAHOBIT, welcomes Kath Ebbs, Mitch Brown, and Lou Keck as ambassadors

Summary

Fight discrimination with perspiration

LGBTQIA+ people still experience discrimination at work and in daily life. The community-led organisations delivering support are stretched, with 41% unable to meet demand for their services (Rainbow Resources report, 2022).

Sweat with Pride raises money for organisations that fight discrimination by creating safe spaces, supporting health and wellbeing, and backing the storytelling and advocacy that changes hearts, minds and systems. Every dollar raised helps strengthen rainbow communities year-round.

Celebrating IDAHOBIT

For IDAHOBIT, the International Day Against LGBTQIA+ Discrimination on 17 May, Rainbow Giving Australia is calling on community to help hit 1,000 sign-ups. More than 850 people have already signed up, raising over A$20,000 ahead of the June challenge.

To celebrate IDAHOBIT, fundraisers who make a self-donation of $21 from 13–21 May can have it doubled to $42. (T&Cs apply.) It's the perfect way to hit the ground running before June.

Leading Australian workplaces, including Nine, Qantas, Macquarie Group, and Hays Recruitment, have already signed their teams up for the June challenge, with other workplaces encouraged to make Pride Month count.

Joining the cause this year are three ambassadors who are bringing their communities along for the ride, including Kath Ebbs (they/them), Mitch Brown (he/him), and Lou Keck (she/her).

"It’s fantastic to see community members, workplaces, gyms, and chosen families signing up for Sweat with Pride. Despite a challenging climate, we’re building a movement that puts the fun in fundraising while delivering real impact for rainbow communities.” – Em Scott, CEO, Rainbow Giving Australia
