Thousands unite nationwide for LGBTQIA+ causes in record-breaking GiveOUT Day

Australians across every state and territory have united in support of LGBTQIA+ communities, raising more than a record-breaking $585,000 for 134 organisations through this year’s GiveOUT Day.

GiveOUT Day is Australia’s only national day of giving dedicated to LGBTQIA+ causes. This year’s campaign saw thousands of individuals, workplaces and businesses donate, champion and celebrate the power of community-led impact.

In total, more than 3,000 people donated—supporting a vast array of LGBTQIA+ organisations and initiatives. Around half of these were first-time participants, reflecting the growing reach and need of the day.

“GiveOUT Day continues to prove that Australians care deeply about equality, inclusion and community,” said Em Scott (she/her), CEO of Rainbow Giving Australia. “This record result shows the power of collective generosity, where small donations from thousands of people can add up to extraordinary change.”

GiveOUT Day 2025 has been described as the most successful since the campaign began in 2019, surpassing last year’s total of $500,000. Funds raised will directly support LGBTQIA+ organisations of all sizes from volunteer-led community groups to established national charities, helping them deliver programs that build inclusion, wellbeing and equity.

“It’s not just about dollars raised, it’s about connection,” said Samantha Turner (she/her), Chair of Rainbow Giving Australia. “GiveOUT Day brings together donors, organisations and allies in a shared moment of pride and purpose. It strengthens our whole sector.”

Matched funding provided by leading philanthropic partners, including the Sidney Myer Fund, The Wyatt Trust, and the Reichstein Foundation, helped to double the impact of every donation.

"We know that the proportion of the philanthropic dollar reaching LGBTIQ causes and organisations is disproportionately low, said Leonard Vary (hm/him), CEO of Sidney Myer Fund. “And with our support for GiveOUT Day we want to encourage and boost support from others.”

Grassroots organisations also reported major benefits beyond financial support, with GiveOUT Day helping raise visibility and strengthen connections with new supporters.

“Thanks to GiveOUT Day, we secured the support needed to finally launch our organisation publicly—and we couldn’t have done it without the platform and the generosity it inspires,” said Arozak Salam (he/him), Founder of Indonesian Queer Collective. “This was our first year participating in GiveOUT Day, and we are truly grateful for the opportunity to connect with new supporters and bring our vision to life.”

Since its launch, GiveOUT Day has become a flagship event for the LGBTQIA+ community sector, collectively raising more than $2.5M for hundreds of initiatives nationwide.
